Music to my ears

Throughout the jungle of chart music you occasionally may find that artist with a certain air about them. Not consumed by their own success, nor believing their hype that inevitably leads to a mediocre attempt as a follow-up. The impossibly cool Katie and Jules of The Ting Tings, are (after being locked in an old, disused jazz club basement in Berlin) finally releasing their second album. I've been fans of The Tings Tings for a while now, ever since my Dad tipped me off that they were the ones to watch. At the time they had just around 18 friends on myspace. The rest, as they say, is history. They are amazing live and also when I spontaneously decided to start a band (that's another story!!) Katie was nice enough to reply to a message I sent her with some advice. Listen to their new song, Hands below. At first I wasn't sure but it's a grower I assure you!!

And on the topic of new albums, I'm sure you've heard of Scottish band Belle and Sebastian. I first fell in love with their music while on a family road trip, listening to the Juno soundtrack on repeat. Well, the band has brought out a new album-just in time for Christmas!! I can't comment to much on it yet as I have not heard it in full but if its as beautiful as my favourite ever song "Piazza, New York Catcher", than I can quite confidently say that it will be stunningly written and gorgeously (if it were ever a word) performed.

I mentioned earlier in the post how my Dad tipped me with The Ting Tings, and must also mention that years ago there was a little-known band named The Killers playing a small tent at Glastonbury. My Dad then told me to watch them-that they would be headlining in enough time. I think you know how this story ends. Well, the latest prediction is a band called Everything Everything. So I checked out the Myspace page and I'm quite liking it. My favourite song I heard was Schoolin', to which there is a link below.
